Thinking Activity:Cyberfeminism
Hello Readers ,
I think yes. Because I am a girl. So my protraction is my first priority . I am not using some of apps with my number and my name. Because one fear in mind any misuse this information.As humans we're inherently biased. Sometimes it's explicit and other times it's unconscious, but as we move forward with technology how do we keep our biases out of the algorithms we create? Documentary filmmaker Robin Hauser argues that we need to have a conversation about how AI should be governed and ask who is responsible for overseeing the ethical standards of these supercomputers. "We need to figure this out now," she says. "Because once skewed data gets into deep learning machines, it's very difficult to take it out."AI makes all decisions like banking work etc. she gives her point of view that I believe in Technology.
I am Aditi Vala and I am a student of MK Bhavnagar university, department of English.This blog is a part of my classroom thinking activity and it's given by Dr. Dilip Barad Sir. In this blog I am going to discuss about Cyberfeminism ;
Cyber feminism :
Cyberfeminism is a feminist approach which foregrounds the relationship between cyberspace, the Internet, and technology. The term was coined in the early 1990s to describe the work of feminists interested in theorizing, critiquing, exploring and re-making the Internet, cyberspace and new-media technologies in general.
Cyberfeminism founded on the ideas post-humanist feminist thinker Donna Haraway expresses in her A Cyborg Manifesto. In this manifesto, she lays the groundwork for the concept of the internet being a revolutionary tool to overthrow patriarchy, destroy the existing gender binary and achieve feminist liberation.
Definition :
A feminist movement concerned with countering the perceived dominance of men in the use and development of information technology, the internet, etc.
If we see in society we find females are not much connected with cyber space and technology. But males are all much familiar with all this technology. Why did it happen ? Because there are the reasons like,
*Culture
*Gender Stereotypes
*Growth of baby and their Sports equipment
1. Kirti Sharma: How to keep human bias out of AI?
Women are always left behind. One of the reasons is the patriarchal country. One role of the biases. So Human biases are well-documented, from implicit association tests that demonstrate biases we may not even be aware of, to field experiments that demonstrate how much these biases can affect outcomes. Over the past few years, society has started to wrestle with just how much these human biases can make their way into artificial intelligence systems — with harmful results. At a time when many companies are looking to deploy AI systems across their operations, being acutely aware of those risks and working to reduce them is an urgent priority. AI is developing at the pace of a rocket. Recent developments in AI have nearly disrupted finance, banking, healthcare, and the education sector. However, bias and emotion is the only thing that is lacking in AI. Researchers are facing a huge dilemma whether or not they should include human bias in machine learning. This topic sparks debates every day in the newsrooms and dining tables across the globe. You must be aware of the saying, “Technology is a good servant, but a bad master.” The notion of ‘mastery’ or giving orders come when technology has a bias. If machines start distinguishing people, it will be a dangerous situation for society. Nobody can deny that AI will develop superior intelligence in the coming years. That is why bias in machine learning algorithms might take us back to the era of slavery.
So finally,AI has many potential benefits for business, the economy, and for tackling society’s most pressing social challenges, including the impact of human biases. But that will only be possible if people trust these systems to produce unbiased results. AI can help humans with bias — but only if humans are working together to tackle bias in AI.
